3 days until departure and the bags (or panniers) are being packed. The fact that I have 2 front and 2 back panniers means I plenty of room for everything I need, and then some. The temptation is to take more than is necessary. With the weather being cold and likely wet for the first half of the ride I will need extra coverage that may not be needed in the southern california section of the ride. The fact of the matter is that I could well be on the road for 5 or 6 weeks so a certain amount of comfort will be needed at times, as well as non cycling apparel. Fortunately most of the clothing and accesories I have are lightweight and do not add too much to the overall weight.
