Day 20. Early mornings and playlists

There are two things that help get the long distances each day - early mornings and playlists. The early morning is essential as the daylight hours are getting shorter by the day. The playlist is what keeps you occupied and stops you thinking too much, for although I love a good muse, it doesn't take long for the focus to turn to how tired my legs are how far I still have to go.

I start everyday with Chariots of Fire theme.. the intro bit gives me just enough time to put my ipod in my back pocket and get the gloves on, just in time to start cycling when the piano kicks in!?! It's a great tune to get me going in the morning, as are the Rocky theme tune and Eye of the Tiger :) Today was a bit wet and a bit windy, a bit grey and a bit blue at times. The wind was mainly behind me which was nice and I covered the distance and got to Point Reyes.

There's one major difference I've noticed about this part of the coastline, and it's been noticeable since I came down past Westport, is the change in the sort of cars I'm seeing. Before they were all big pick-ups and 4x4's... but now it seems to be prediminantly sports cars and convertables.

So tomorrow should be the day I get to cycle over the golden gate bridge into San Francisco, which I am looking forward to and I'm hoping the legs will hold out long enough! 78.8 miles on the speedo.
