After a brief stay in Westport, where I did survive the night unscathed, it was time for another short day. Being that it is thanksgiving, and I was worried that alot of the smaller places may be closed down for the day, I thought it best to just head down to Fort Bragg, the largest town on this part of the coast. Remarkably it has been 3 days now since I have suffered adverse weather conditions.
Today was probably the warmest day I have been cycling. The sun was out and the short trip down was taken at a leisurely pace, without too much of a problem. The Californian coast is exceptionally beautiful in this part of the world, and I even saw some people on the beach. I think that may be a first, even though I followed the coast nearly all the way through Oregon I don't recall seeing people actually on the beach having a day of it!
Fort Bragg seems a slightly nicer town than most, although everything is shut for thanksgiving. 19.64 miles on the speedo and a lovely photo of the coastline just outside Westport. There's a strong possibility I might actually have to do some camping in the next couple of days as the coastal towns seem to get quite expensive between here and San Francisco... but we'll play that one by ear as and when I get wherever I get to tomorrow.
